In this blog, we will be reviewing how your golf setup posture can greatly improve the consistency in your golf game and reduce back pain after rounds. Three positions are commonly seen when setting up over a golf shot. First is S-Posture which is seen with excessive curvature in the low back and upper back. Second is C-Posture which is identified by a flat lower back and rounded upper back and shoulders. The final position is “neutral” or N-Posture, where the golfer's spine is straight, and the shoulders are stacked on top of the hips. Neutral posture is the optimal position for consistency from shot to shot and throughout the entire round. Achieving a consistent setup with a neutral spine is key to improving performance and preventing injury. For many golfers experiencing low back pain, addressing these posture issues is a crucial step toward playing more comfortably and consistently. A neutral spine not only supports better mechanics but also reduces strain on the body. In the next post, we’ll explore specific strategies to correct low back pain and improve posture for a healthier, more effective golf game.
