While it’s easy to spend a small fortune on fitness gear, you don’t have to break the bank to look good while working out. Here are nine websites that offer great discounts on everything from running kicks to GPS watches to sweat-wicking tanks.
Don't be fooled by the name—this online retailer of discounted outdoor gear and camping equipment also sells brands you see at the gym, like Under Armour, Adidas, Asics and even Vibram. Look for the "Hot Deal!" tag on items for the biggest discounts.
Think of the Clymb as Rue La La for the outdoors/fitness set. You have to sign up to join the private-sale network, but it's totally worth it: Members get insider pricing on premium-brand gear and apparel. Deals are as much as 70 percent off retail price. Currently on the sale block: men's and women's running shoes from Asics and Saucony, as well as gear like bike helmets and yoga mats.
Thank goodness this small Maryland-based shoe shop has an online store. Even the apparel is discounted. AND shipping is free for orders over $65. Win.
Another private-network sale site for fitness enthusiasts, Planetgear.com has a new deal each day featuring popular fitness brands for cheap. (Sorry guys—this one's for ladies only.) But you have to be quick: if someone beats you to an item, it's gone forever.
Check out the sale section for seriously marked-down merchandise. Lots and lots of it.
This site can take a bit of digging, but hunters are rewarded with good deals on basics like sports bras, Spandex shorts, outerwear and tech gear. The shoes are probably the best deals on the site; you can find kicks from Mizuno, Brooks, Saucony, New Balance and more for well under $100. Bonus: You get free shipping on your first order, and dirt-cheap flat-rate shipping for $2.95 after that.
Sierra Trading Post
The fitnesswear selection on this site hits a wide range of athletes—from runners to surfers to golfers—with brands like Marmot, New Balance and Nike. Non-clearance items average about a 30 percent savings off regular prices, but for the biggest steals, head to the clearance section, where you can get jackets, fleeces, tech shirts and more for 70 percent off or more.
Steep and Cheap
One of the original daily deal sites, Steep and Cheap runs on a fairly straightforward model: feature one item at a seriously
ridiculous discount and, when it sells out, post another crazy deal. The newest addition to the site is the Gear Cache, which hosts longer-running sales on a bigger inventory of items. Current Cache sales include brands like Patagonia, Under Armour, Columbia and prAna.
This is the Craigslist of used outdoor sports gear. You can get men's and women's clothing here if you'd like, but we would suggest sticking to the gear: skis, snowshoes, road bikes. All posts seems to have photos, which is good because, really, who wants to buy used items without seeing them?
